Homeowners: Molly and John and their young daughter General Contractor: Silva Brothers Construction Location: Manchester, MA Scope: John and Molly bought this home a year ago, after deciding they were ready to move out of the city. They love the historical details but dream of giving the house a “face-lift,” both inside and out, to remove some bad modifications from the 1970s and make it more comfortable for a modern family. Currently, the house is 4,628 square feet. They plan to remove the existing garage. It’s barely functional and provides no access to the house. A new garage will connect to the house through a much-needed mudroom. They’ll also replace the existing porch with a new bumpout to allow for a brand-new kitchen and eating area. Upstairs, the bedrooms will get their own bathrooms. AC will be added throughout and the landscape will be updated to provide their daughter with a space to play. Episodes start March 26 on PBS.
